IGNOU Special Study Centre Bhalessa

IGNOU Special Study Centre has been set up by the IGNOU New Delhi in 2006 to democratize the system of education in Bhalessa. An MOU was signed between NSWA and IGNOU New Delhi for running this special centre. Presntly the centre has more then 500 students on roll. The Centre is organizing series of seminars and debates.

The University admits students to its Bachelors Degree Programme from both formal and non-formal scheme. The non-formal stream consists of those students who have not cleared 10+2 or equivalent exam. To take admission to IGNOU’s degree programme they have to pass its Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme (BPP) first.

A learner will get a BA./BSc./BCom./BSW degree when he/she earns 96 credit points from three categories of courses – Foundation courses, Elective Courses and Application-Oriented Courses. Learners who successfully complete 48 credits in any one discipline will be given a BA Major Degree, whereas others will be awarded BA General Degree. Students have to select at least 8 credits from Application-Oriented Courses group.

TRANSPORTATION

 CUSSED ROADS Bhalessa has a very tough terrain so the communication system/means of transportation is very difficult. The area is located in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir is still facing step motherly treatment and authorities are reluctant to act as the transportation in the area is in a bad shape. In this age of digitalization, the area is witnessing an acute transport like buses for the poor masses to travel from one hamlet to another.           Notwithstanding claims of the successive state governments to accelerate developmental activities in the remotest areas of the Jammu region, the Bhalessa area of Doda district exposes all claims of the authorities to take "revolutionary" steps for the development and betterment of the neglected and the remote areas. Bhalessa Religious Canvas Sadaket Malik MARKAZI JAMIA MASJID AND KALGONI TEMPLE THE   area has several temples in the vernacular style in Bhalessa area. Some of them are in Bheja and Gandoh. The main temple Kalgoni may be a typical example such temples and is located at an idyllic location on the top of a ridge, providing a magnificent panoramic view on all sides. Most of the temples are surrounded with thick deodar trees, away from habitation. It is named after the major stream of Bhalessa "Kalgoni' which stretches from "Kansozoo" and merges into the Chenab thereafter. The Kalgoni Temple has all along remained a source of Hindu Muslim amity. The surroundings of this temple are virtually barren. In front of the temple, at a distance, is a raised platform (Chabutra).
